隨著香港「反送中」運動，局勢的持續惡化， 加拿大政府加快了審核港人申請難民的速度，至今已有至少超過14人獲得批准。

持續至今, 約有50名香港民主抗爭者已經向加拿大遞交難民申請。「新香港文化協會」一直積極協助這些難民申請人，負責人也有特別表示「至今為止，經手的案件中已經有14個人，成功獲得難民庇護。」

近期也可能會有更多申請案件獲得批准，去年7月國安法生效後，中國和香港當局有一系列的抓捕活動，官員們知道事態嚴重，所以都加速了處理的程序，預計有7個申請人也可以很快就獲得難民庇護。
